Squidward proceeds to complain almost this, and then the annoyed Dutchman tosses him into the Fly of Despair, a zipper-like portal leading to a cluttered dimension. Watching their screaming friend disappear in the unknown realm, SpongeBob and Patrick are frightened into submission, helping the Dutchman in his quest to terrorize the citizens of Bikini Bottom. However, the pair's idea of terror proves incompatible with the Dutchman'due south, so the ghost reveals that they won't be his crew. SpongeBob asks if they will be released, but the Dutchman states his true nature of informing them that they will be eaten as their advantage. Locked in their room, SpongeBob and Patrick's simply artery of escape is the dreaded "perfume section." Surviving this ordeal, they manage to steal the Flying Dutchman's dining sock, which they overheard that he cannot eat without.
The Flying Dutchman catches the ii as they try to escape. However, he is unable to hurt them without damaging his sock. Therefore, SpongeBob and the Dutchman begin fighting over the sock until the rubberband threatens to requite. The Flying Dutchman decides to grant them 3 wishes in exchange for the sock's safe return. Patrick wishes he knew about this earlier, thus setting the clock back 1 minute and using upwards the commencement wish. Although initially irritated, SpongeBob, in his excitement, wishes that Squidward was with them. Squidward, who managed to pass through the Fly of Despair and arrive safely dwelling, is immediately transported back to the Dutchman's ship, in which the two see he is still alive, realizing that he escaped from the Wing of Despair. The trio begins arguing over who shall go the concluding wish until the Dutchman uses his method of choice, which he calls his "mystic other-worldly powers", to decide (which is actually the eeny-meenie-minie-mo method).
SpongeBob is called to receive the final wish, and so he defeats the Flying Dutchman by wishing that he turns into a vegetarian. Pronto, he does as penalty for his true colors and SpongeBob and the others are transported in front of a familiar-looking pineapple, but before they could celebrate the Flying Dutchman'south defeat, they soon realize that they have been turned into fruit and are chased past the Flying Dutchman who is now a hippie around his send that is now a hippie van with a sail while the episode finishes.
Patchy epilogue

"Yikes Matey! Original 800 Number Equally Aired Has Been Retired to Davey Jones' Locker!"

Ironies:
When the Flying Dutchman records himself talking, he says he was going to swallow SpongeBob and Patrick tomorrow. However, in each of the endings (including the alternatives), the Dutchman eats them about 5-six minutes later after he says this.
In SpongeBob's catastrophe, SpongeBob could've merely wished the Dutchman wouldn't eat himself, Patrick, and Squidward instead of wishing the Dutchman was a vegetarian.
The Flying Dutchman's finger would've logically landed on Patrick
This is the simply episode where "Horlepiep" plays, but neither Mrs. Puff nor her boating school appear.
This marks the offset usage of "Dramatic Cue (B)," "Drunken Crewman (B)," "The Dreadnought Tea Clipper (B)," and "Drama Link (B)" (Patrick's catastrophe but).
